Main St Parent Newsletter 03/08/26

Hello Main Street Families,

Congratulations to all 5th grade students who participated in the ‘Main Street Invention Convention’ last Friday in the library!  I very much enjoyed listening to the student presentations and learning about their inventions!  A big thank you to Ms. Lowe for organizing the event.  There were many great entries, and the inventors of the Surf and Turf,  the Cat Canopy, the Bright Light Glove and The Glow-away will be showcasing their inventions at the State Invention Convention in April.

I am happy to report that our attendance rate for February was 94.6%, which is an increase of 1.2% compared to the same month last school year!  Thank you to all families who have helped us to increase our attendance by sending your students regularly and also accessing the short term independent study option if your student is not able to attend.  Our attendance rate for March 2025 was 95.2%, and I am hoping that we can continue to increase attendance rates, and with your help I believe we can do it!

Although state (CAASPP) testing doesn’t begin for 3rd and 4th grade until April 20th, and March 30th for 5th grade students, I am linking the schedule here so that you are aware of when your student will be testing in either English Language Arts (ELA) or math.  Science testing is only for 5th grade students.  Students take the tests in the morning

I am linking the practice tests as they will give your 3rd, 4th or 5th grade student an opportunity to better prepare for the CAASPP tests.

Clear your calendars for Friday, March 20th, when the Heron Hustle (Jog A Thon) takes place at the Soquel High Track!  This was a phenomenal success last year and we are very much looking forward to this year’s edition.  I’d like to see as many families as possible up at the High School. We will be leaving (walking) from Main Street at approximately 8:45 AM, and then leaving the track shortly after 11:00 AM.

A reminder that students walking, skating or riding to school must enter the school and be in the supervised areas.  Students are not permitted to loiter outside of the supervised areas (playstructures and blacktop).

Thank you for sending your students to us on a daily basis, the more your child is in school, the more they will learn!  If your child needs to be absent you can access the short term independent study option here.  Students who complete the short term independent study receive attendance credit.

¡Felicitaciones a todos los estudiantes de 5.º grado que participaron en la "Convención de Inventos de Main Street" el viernes pasado en la biblioteca! ¡Disfruté mucho escuchando las presentaciones de los estudiantes y aprendiendo sobre sus inventos! Muchas gracias a la Sra. Lowe por organizar el evento. Hubo muchas participaciones excelentes, y los inventores de...elEl Surf and Turf, el Cat Canopy, el Bright Light Glove y The Glow-away exhibirán sus inventos en la Convención Estatal de Inventos en abril.

Me complace informar que nuestra tasa de asistencia en febrero fue del 94.6%, lo que representa un aumento del 1.2% en comparación con el mismo mes del año escolar anterior. Gracias a todas las familias que nos han ayudado a aumentar la asistencia enviando a sus estudiantes regularmente y accediendo a...Opción de estudio independiente a corto plazo Si su estudiante no puede asistir, nuestra tasa de asistencia en marzo de 2025 fue del 95.2% y espero que podamos seguir aumentando. Con su ayuda, creo que podemos lograrlo.

Aunque las pruebas estatales (CAASPP) no comienzan para el 3.er y 4.º grado hasta el 20 de abril, y el 30 de marzo para los estudiantes de 5.º grado, estoy vinculando el cronograma aquí para que sepa cuándo su estudiante tendrá la prueba de Lengua y Literatura Inglesas (ELA) o Matemáticas. La prueba de Ciencias es solo para estudiantes de quinto grado. Los estudiantes toman las pruebas por la mañana.

Estoy enlazando los exámenes de práctica como ellos le darán a su estudiante de 3er, 4to o 5to grado la oportunidad de prepararse mejor para las pruebas CAASPP.

¡Agenden el viernes 20 de marzo, cuando se lleve a cabo el Heron Hustle (Jog A Thon) en la pista de la preparatoria Soquel! El año pasado fue un éxito rotundo y estamos muy emocionados por la edición de este año. Me gustaría ver a la mayor cantidad posible de familias en la preparatoria. Saldremos (caminando) de Main Street aproximadamente a las 8:45 a. m. y nos iremos de la pista poco después de las 11:00 a. m.

Se recuerda que los estudiantes que caminan, patinan o van en bicicleta a la escuela deben ingresar a la escuela y permanecer en las áreas supervisadas. No se permite que los estudiantes merodeen fuera de las áreas supervisadas (zonas de juego y asfalto).

Gracias por enviarnos a sus alumnos a diario. Cuanto más tiempo esté su hijo en la escuela, más aprenderá. Si su hijo necesita ausentarse, puede acceder a la opción de estudio independiente a corto plazo aquí. Los estudiantes que completan el estudio independiente a corto plazo reciben crédito de asistencia.

Fechas importantes:

16/3/26: Este no es un día escolar para los estudiantes.

20/3/26: Heron Hustle (maratón de jogging), pista de Soquel High, de 8:30 a 11:30 a. m.
