Main St Parent Newsletter 1/11/26

Hello Main Street Families,

Our FOMS Read-A-Thon is up and running!  Here is some information from FOMS:

On Friday, students headed home with their reading log which can be used to track all reading done during the first week of the event; this is where the fun (and reading!) really begins.

Over the next two weeks, we encourage families to talk with their community of family and friends and invite them to support your reader by making a pledge (keep an eye on your email for your child's 99Pledges link). Every page, chapter, and minute read helps move us closer to our goal! 

Important reminder: Please submit your child’s first reading log by Friday, January 17th or share the total number of minutes reading using our Google form. This helps us keep families updated on our progress and celebrate milestones along the way.

Thank you, as always, for your generosity, involvement, and for being a part of the Main Street community. These events are possible because of you - and they make a meaningful difference for our students and staff.

Thanks to an influx of book donations late last week, the FREE children's book exchange has been extended through this week! Donations are still welcome (feel free to leave them alongside the books on the tables), and families are kindly reminded that ALL are welcome to take free books - regardless of whether or not they have donated.

Coming up in the first week of February we have parent conferences, and they will be held during the week of February 2-6.  Though not all families will be contacted for a conference, any family that would like to have a conference can request one; simply contact your child’s teacher.  During conference week students leave at the following times:

TK/K - 11:30 AM       1st/2nd/3rd - 11:50 AM        4th/5th - 12:00 noon

On January 28th, at 6:30 PM, in the NBMS PAC, all families are invited to a ‘Community Voice Gathering’, hosted by district superintendent Scott Turnbull.  This event will be an opportunity for community engagement on all aspects of our school district, and I hope to see you there.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jessica Glantz Kiernen is completing the mid-year update for our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP).  As part of this report she is requesting that students in grades 3rd -8th complete this short survey.

Thank you for sending your students to us on a daily basis, the more your child is in school, the more they will learn!  If your child needs to be absent you can access the short term independent study option here.  Students who complete the short term independent study receive attendance credit.

1/19/26: Martin Luther King Jnr Day, no school for students

2/2 -2/6: Shortened days for parent conferences

2/9/26: Lincoln’s Birthday

2/16/26: President’s Day

¡Nuestro Maratón de Lectura FOMS ya está en marcha! Aquí les dejamos información de FOMS:

El viernes, los estudiantes regresaron a casa con sus registro de lectura que se pueden utilizar para realizar un seguimiento de toda la lectura realizada durante la primera semana del evento; aquí es donde realmente comienza la diversión (¡y la lectura!).

Durante las próximas dos semanas, animamos a las familias a hablar con sus familiares y amigos y los invitamos a apoyar a su lector con una promesa (estén atentos a su correo electrónico para recibir el enlace de 99Promesas de su hijo). ¡Cada página, capítulo y minuto de lectura nos acerca a nuestra meta!

Recordatorio importante: Envíe el primer registro de lectura de su hijo antes del viernes 17 de enero o comparta la cantidad total de minutos de lectura utilizando nuestro Formulario de Google Esto nos ayuda a mantener a las familias informadas sobre nuestro progreso y celebrar los hitos a lo largo del camino.

Gracias, como siempre, por su generosidad, participación y por formar parte de la comunidad de Main Street. Estos eventos son posibles gracias a ustedes y marcan una diferencia significativa para nuestros estudiantes y personal.

Gracias a la gran cantidad de donaciones de libros recibidas a finales de la semana pasada, ¡el intercambio gratuito de libros infantiles se ha extendido hasta esta semana! Se siguen aceptando donaciones (pueden dejarlas junto a los libros en las mesas). Se recuerda a las familias que TODOS pueden llevarse libros gratis, independientemente de si han donado o no.

En la primera semana de febrero tendremos reuniones de padres, del 2 al 6 de febrero. Aunque no se contactará a todas las familias para una reunión, cualquier familia que desee asistir puede solicitarla; simplemente comuníquese con el maestro de su hijo/a.Durante la semana de conferencias los estudiantes salen en los siguientes horarios:

TK/K - 11:30 AM 1º/2º/3º - 11:50 AM 4º/5º - 12:00 mediodía

El 28 de enero, a las 6:30 p.m., en el PAC del NBMS, todas las familias están invitadas a un ‘Reunión de voces comunitarias', organizado por el superintendente de distrito Scott Turnbull.Este evento será una oportunidad para la participación de la comunidad en todos los aspectos de nuestro distrito escolar y espero verte allí.

La superintendente adjunta, Dra. Jessica Glantz Kiernen, está completando la actualización de mitad de año de nuestro Plan de Control Local y Rendición de Cuentas (LCAP). Como parte de este informe, solicita a los estudiantes de los grados

Los del 3º al 8º completan esta encuesta.

Gracias por enviarnos a sus alumnos a diario. Cuanto más tiempo esté su hijo en la escuela, más aprenderá. Si su hijo necesita ausentarse, puede acceder a la opción de estudio independiente a corto plazo aquí.  Los estudiantes que completan el estudio independiente a corto plazo reciben crédito de asistencia.

19/01/26: Día de Martin Luther King Jr., no hay clases para los estudiantes

2/2 -2/6: Días acortados para las conferencias de padres

9/2/26: El cumpleaños de Lincoln

16/02/26: Día del Presidente
