Main St Parent Newsletter 10/26/25

Hello Main Street Families,

A Big Thank You to all families who were able to participate in our Drive For Schools fundraiser, we raised approximately $13,500 for Main Street School!  Winners were announced today, and I hope some of our Main Street Families were among the lucky ones!  

Another thanks to counselor Elise Bankosh for organizing the Career Cafe, and thank you to the family members that visited classes last week to talk to students about their career!  Our students very much enjoyed listening to you talk about your career!

One final thanks to the FOMS group for organizing the ‘Hotel Transylvania’ Movie Night, last Friday evening.  It was fantastic to see families gathering under the stars on the blacktop, munching on  popcorn and other treats, while enjoying movie time with family and friends!

On Tuesday, October 28th, Disability Inclusion Advocates, the Common Ground Society will be visiting Main Street to present two assemblies to our students.  Third through fifth grade will gather in the MU from 9:30-10:00 AM.  TK through second grade will gather from 10:10-10:35 AM.

On October 31, there will be a Halloween event at Main Street where participating students will parade on the black top.  The event begins at 8:40 AM and goes until approximately 9:20 AM.  Classes will gather on the black top with their buddy class and at the appropriate time, each buddy class pairing will parade around the blacktop.  Please note that replica weapons are not permitted on campus, and that if a costume includes a mask, it may only be worn during the parade part of the day (not during breaks or class time).  If your student does not want to participate in the Halloween parade, be sure to let your child’s teacher know.

On November 4th, Superintendent Scott Turnbull will be discussing the Comprehensive School Safety Plan Pt II from 3:30-4:30 PM at the District Offices.  He is requesting that at least two parents from each school site be in attendance (physically or virtually).  If you are available to attend this meeting please email me (cbroadhurst@sused.org).

The field here at Main Street will be resurfaced in the future. If you want to see what a new field looks like, the New Brighton Middle School field will be officially opened on  November 6, at 3:30 PM.

At SUESD, we believe student mental health is the foundation for learning. Each of our schools has caring counselors who provide classroom lessons, brief check-ins, crisis support, and parent/staff consultation.

Through the state’s Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI), we can now be reimbursed for these services—at no cost to families. Billing will never affect copays, deductibles, or plan limits, and students will continue to receive the same support whether or not they have insurance. For more information on included billable services, please see this flyer.

Thank you for sending your students to us on a daily basis, the more your child is in school, the more they will learn!  If your child needs to be absent you can access the short term independent study option here.  Students who complete the short term independent study receive attendance credit.  

In closing, thank you for driving safely in our parking lot;  your safety and student safety is of the utmost importance.  Also, please do not leave your car unattended in the pick up and drop off lanes.  If you need to exit your vehicle, please park in the parking lot.

¡Muchas gracias a todas las familias que participaron en nuestra campaña de recaudación de fondos "Drive For Schools"! ¡Recaudamos aproximadamente $13,500 para la Escuela Main Street! Hoy anunciamos a los ganadores, ¡y espero que algunas de nuestras familias de Main Street hayan estado entre las afortunadas!

Otro agradecimiento a la consejera Elise Bankosh por organizar el Café de Carreras, y gracias a los familiares que visitaron las clases la semana pasada para hablar con los estudiantes sobre sus carreras. ¡Nuestros estudiantes disfrutaron mucho escuchándolas hablar sobre sus carreras!

Un último agradecimiento al grupo FOMS por organizar la Noche de Cine "Hotel Transylvania" el viernes pasado por la noche. ¡Fue fantástico ver a las familias reunidas bajo las estrellas en el asfalto, disfrutando de palomitas y otras delicias, mientras disfrutaban de la película con familiares y amigos!

El martes 28 de octubre, Disability Inclusion Advocates, la Sociedad de terreno común visitaremos Main Street para presentar dos asambleas a nuestros estudiantes. Los estudiantes de tercero a quinto grado se reunirán en el MU de 9:30 a 10:00 a. m. Los estudiantes de kínder de transición a segundo grado se reunirán de 10:10 a 10:35 a. m.

El 31 de octubre, habrá un evento de Halloween en Main Street, donde los estudiantes participantes desfilarán por el asfalto. El evento comienza a las 8:40 a. m. y dura aproximadamente hasta las 9:20 a. m. Las clases se reunirán en el asfalto con sus compañeros de clase y, a la hora indicada, cada pareja desfilará por el asfalto. Tenga en cuenta que no se permiten réplicas de armas en el campus, y que si un disfraz incluye máscara, solo se puede usar durante el desfile (no durante los descansos ni las clases). Si su estudiante no desea participar en el desfile de Halloween, asegúrese de informar a su maestro.

En SUESD, creemos que la salud mental de los estudiantes es fundamental para el aprendizaje. Cada escuela cuenta con consejeros atentos que ofrecen clases, sesiones breves de seguimiento, apoyo en situaciones de crisis y consultas con padres y personal.

A través de la Iniciativa de Salud Conductual para Niños y Jóvenes (CYBHI) del estado, ahora podemos recibir reembolsos por estos servicios sin costo para las familias. La facturación no afectará los copagos, deducibles ni los límites del plan, y los estudiantes seguirán recibiendo el mismo apoyo, tengan o no seguro. Gracias por enviarnos a sus alumnos a diario. Cuanto más tiempo esté su hijo en la escuela, más aprenderá. Si su hijo necesita ausentarse, puede acceder a la opción de estudio independiente a corto plazo aquí. Los estudiantes que completan el estudio independiente a corto plazo reciben crédito de asistencia.
