Main St Parent Newsletter 12/8/25

Hello Main Street Families,

A big thanks to our school librarian Sara Thompson for organizing last week’s book fair and the parent volunteers who helped staff it.  Transforming the library into a ‘book store’ took much work and it is appreciated!

Main Street School is participating in the Annual Second Harvest Food Drive, and if you’d like to donate non perishable food items, please bring them to school, we do have a barrel inside the office.  You can also make a direct donation to Second Harvest online.

The school office has let me know that if families have elastic waist pants or shorts that their child has grown out of or no longer wears, they would appreciate them being donated to the office, to use when kids need to change for various reasons.

Art instructor Mandi Lopez is curating an amazing Main Street Art Show, which will be held in the multi use room and is open to families on December 9th and 10th (Tuesday and Wednesday), from 3:30-6:30 PM.  You won’t want to miss this awesome display of student creativity!  Here is a flier.

Punctuality is an important life skill and being on time to school means that your child does not miss any learning.   If your student often comes to school late or tardy, I’ll be reaching out to you to see how we can help get your child in class on time.   Coming to school late (less than 30 mins late) or tardy (more than 30 minutes late) is disruptive to their learning and being on time will ensure they do not miss any learning.

The latest attendance rates for Main Street show that for the period of August through October, compared to last year our attendance rate is up 0.4% to 96.2%. While any increase is welcomed, I noted that other schools in our district made at least a 1% gain for the same time period.

Thank you for sending your students to us on a daily basis, the more your child is in school, the more they will learn!  If your child needs to be absent you can access the short term independent study option here.  Students who complete the short term independent study receive attendance credit.

12/10/25:  Last day of Homework Club until January 6, 2026

12/22/25 - 1/5/26:    Winter Break, no school for students

Hola familias de Main Street,

Muchísimas gracias a nuestra bibliotecaria, Sara Thompson, por organizar la feria del libro de la semana pasada y a los padres voluntarios que colaboraron con el personal. Transformar la biblioteca en una librería requirió mucho trabajo y se agradece.

La Escuela Main Street participa en la campaña anual de recolección de alimentos Second Harvest. Si desea donar alimentos no perecederos, tráigase a la escuela. Tenemos un contenedor en la oficina. También puede hacer una donación directa a Second Harvest.en línea.

La oficina de la escuela me ha hecho saber que si las familias tienen pantalones o pantalones cortos con cintura elástica que sus hijos ya no usan o ya no usan, agradecerán que los donaran a la oficina para usarlos cuando los niños necesitan cambiarse por diversas razones.

La puntualidad es una habilidad importante para la vida, y llegar a tiempo a la escuela significa que su hijo/a no se perderá nada de la enseñanza. Si su hijo/a suele llegar tarde o con impuntualidad, me pondré en contacto con usted para ver cómo podemos ayudarle a llegar a clase puntualmente. Llegar tarde (menos de 30 minutos) o con impuntualidad (más de 30 minutos) interrumpe su aprendizaje, y ser puntual le garantizará que no se pierda nada.

Las últimas tasas de asistencia de Main Street muestran que, entre agosto y octubre, en comparación con el año pasado, nuestra tasa de asistencia aumentó un 0,4 %, alcanzando el 96,2 %. Si bien cualquier aumento es bienvenido, observé que otras escuelas de nuestro distrito lograron un aumento de al menos el 1 % durante el mismo período.

Gracias por enviarnos a sus alumnos a diario. Cuanto más tiempo esté su hijo en la escuela, más aprenderá. Si su hijo necesita ausentarse, puede acceder a la opción de estudio independiente a corto plazo aquí. Los estudiantes que completan el estudio independiente a corto plazo reciben crédito de asistencia.
