Main St Parent Newsletter 2/8/26

Hello Main Street Families,

I saw many parents on campus this past week and I hope you had an insightful conference with your child’s teacher, regarding the progress your child is making.  Strong communication and connection between the school and home usually lead to increased outcomes for your child.

School is not in session on Monday, February 9th, in observance of Lincoln’s Birthday.  School will not be in session also, on Monday, February 16th in observance of President’s Day.

A reminder that students walking, skating or riding to school must enter the school and be in the supervised areas.  Students are not permitted to loiter outside of the supervised areas (playstructures and blacktop).

Attendance for the month of  January was 93.3%.  That is up 1.3% compared to January last year  (2024/25).  Attendance for February last year was 93.4%, will your child’s attendance help us to improve on that?

On Saturday February 21, the Latino Role Models Conference will be held at the Cabrillo College Crocker Theater.  See this link for more information.

FOMS is organizing Main Street's Community Night at the SC Warriors game on March 8th.

Another opportunity to see the Warriors is through the Santa Cruz County SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area) who are partnering with the Warriors and holding a disability awareness night on March 27th. See this link for more information.

Thank you for sending your students to us on a daily basis, the more your child is in school, the more they will learn!  If your child needs to be absent you can access the short term independent study option here.  Students who complete the short term independent study receive attendance credit.

Hola familias de Main Street,

Vi a muchos padres en el campus la semana pasada y espero que hayan tenido una conversación enriquecedora con el maestro de su hijo/a sobre su progreso. Una buena comunicación y conexión entre la escuela y el hogar suele resultar en mejores resultados para su hijo/a.

No habrá clases el lunes 9 de febrero, por el natalicio de Lincoln. Tampoco habrá clases el lunes 16 de febrero, por el Día del Presidente.

Se recuerda que los estudiantes que caminan, patinan o van en bicicleta a la escuela deben ingresar a la escuela y permanecer en las áreas supervisadas. No se permite que los estudiantes merodeen fuera de las áreas supervisadas (zonas de juego y asfalto).

La asistencia en enero fue del 93,3%. Esto representa un aumento del 1,3% en comparación con enero del año pasado (2024/25). La asistencia en febrero del año pasado fue del 93,4%. ¿La asistencia de su hijo/a nos ayudará a mejorarla?

Otra oportunidad de ver a los Warriors es a través del SELPA del condado de Santa Cruz (Área del Plan Local de Educación Especial) que se están asociando con el Warriors y celebrando una noche de concientización sobre la discapacidad el 27 de marzo. Vea este enlace para más información.

Gracias por enviarnos a sus alumnos a diario. Cuanto más tiempo esté su hijo en la escuela, más aprenderá. Si su hijo necesita ausentarse, puede acceder a la opción de estudio independiente a corto plazo aquí. Los estudiantes que completan el estudio independiente a corto plazo reciben crédito de asistencia.
