Main St Parent Newsletter 4/27/25

Hello Main Street Parents!

On Friday, May 2nd, 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Soquel High School we’ll have the ‘Blue Heron Bash - Let’s GLOW Crazy!’  Dress in your finest neon and get ready to party alongside other Main Street families. Parent supervision is required - this is NOT a drop-off event. Entry is free & siblings are welcome to join the fun! Pizza and other snacks will be available for purchase.  We are currently asking families to submit their RSVP via this link.

State (CAASPP) testing for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students continues on April 28, and I am linking the schedule here.  Help your child to be better prepared for the CAASPP tests by visiting the practice tests.  

As we move closer to the end of the year, I respectfully ask that families refrain from requesting a specific teacher for next year.  I do welcome input on your child's educational needs, and you can email that to me (cbroadhurst@suesd.org).  If your student will not be attending Main Street next year (and we think they are), could you please let the office know and also complete this form.

Related to next year,  it is with mixed emotions that I announce that Ms. Frost is retiring from teaching Kindergarten at Main Street School.  While we are sad to see her go, we are happy that she’ll get to enjoy a wonderful retirement.  Ms. Frost has devoted 32 years of her life to serving students, and 15 of those years have been in our district.  You can learn more about her here.

Related to this move, I am delighted to announce that Ms. Mary (Agnone) is moving from third grade to teach Kindergarten, where she will continue to be an outstanding teacher for our students.

Recently some of our Main Street Students represented our school at the California Invention Convention, and 5th grader Leila Beckett was selected from the State Competition to compete at the National Invention Convention in Dearborn, Michigan!  Leila invented the "Don't Worry... Backpacky" to help students manage anxiety at school. The backpack is outfitted with various fidgets and sensory items.  We wish her all the best at the National Competition, which will be held in June.

Campus Kids Connection (CKC) after school enrollment for 2025/26 is open, and the link to register is  CKC Main Street 25/26  If you are interested in CKC providing morning care for your child, please fill out the before school care form on the same link.  

A reminder that if your child needs to be absent you can access the short term independent study option by here.  Students who access this receive attendance credit.

¡Hola padres de Main Street!

En Viernes 2 de mayo de 17:30 a 19:30 horas. en Soquel High School tendremos el ‘Blue Heron Bash - Let's GLOW Crazy!’ Vístete con tu mejor neón y prepárate para festejar junto a otras familias de Main Street.. Se requiere supervisión de los padres; este NO es un evento de entrega. ¡La entrada es gratuita y los hermanos pueden unirse a la diversión! Se podrán comprar pizzas y otros bocadillos.  Actualmente estamos pidiendo a las familias que envíen su confirmación de asistencia a través de este enlace.

Las pruebas estatales (CAASPP) para estudiantes de 3.º, 4.º y 5.º grado continúan el 28 de abril y estoy vinculando el calendario. aquí.  Ayude a su hijo a estar mejor preparado para las pruebas CAASPP visitando el pruebas de practica.  

A medida que nos acercamos al final del año, pido respetuosamente que las familias se abstengan de solicitar un maestro específico para el próximo año.  Agradezco cualquier comentario sobre las necesidades educativas de su hijo y puede enviármelo por correo electrónico (croadhurst@suesd.org).  Si su estudiante no asistirá a Main Street el próximo año (y creemos que sí), ¿podría informar a la oficina y también completar este formulario? forma.

En relación con el próximo año, es con emociones encontradas que anunció que la Sra. Frost se retira de enseñar jardín de infantes en Main Street School.  Si bien nos entristece verla partir, estamos felices de que pueda disfrutar de una jubilación maravillosa.  La Sra. Frost ha dedicado 32 años de su vida a servir a los estudiantes y 15 de esos años han sido en nuestro distrito.  Puedes aprender más sobre ella aquí.

En relación con este cambio, me complace anunciar que la Sra. Mary (Agnone) pasará del tercer grado para enseñar en jardín de infantes, donde seguirá siendo una maestra sobresaliente para nuestros estudiantes.

Recientemente, algunos de nuestros estudiantes de Main Street representaron a nuestra escuela en la Convención de Invenciones de California y Leila Beckett, estudiante de quinto grado, fue seleccionada de la competencia estatal para competir en la Convención Nacional de Invenciones en Dearborn, Michigan.  Leila inventó el "Don't Worry... Backpacky" para ayudar a los estudiantes a controlar la ansiedad en la escuela. La mochila está equipada con varios elementos inquietos y sensoriales.  Le deseamos todo lo mejor en el Concurso Nacional, que se celebrará en junio.

La inscripción extraescolar de Campus Kids Connection (CKC) para 2025/26 está abierta y el enlace para registrarse es  CKC Calle Principal 25/26  Si está interesado en que CKC brinde cuidado matutino a su hijo, complete el formulario de cuidado antes de la escuela en el mismo enlace.  

Recuerde que si su hijo necesita estar ausente, puede acceder a la opción de estudio independiente a corto plazo llamando aquí.  Los estudiantes que acceden a esto reciben crédito de asistencia.
