Main St Parent Newsletter 5/18/25

Hello Main Street Parents!

Thanks to the Friends of Main Street (FOMS) for organizing the Art and Soul Fundraiser that was held last Friday!  This fundraiser was an outstanding success, and to all that were able to attend, we appreciate the support you showed by your presence and once again, the work that FOMS does on behalf of our school is amazing!

There is another opportunity to raise funds this week at the Capitola Chipotle on Tuesday, from 4:00-8:00 PM.  Mention that you are dining in support of Main Street and a portion of the amount you spend is donated to FOMS.

Another thank you to FOMS and Mandi Lopez for presenting Monsters Inc last week at NBMS!  What an amazing event, that involved close to a third of our school and many adults!  A great community night of magic and memories!

Next week is the last five day week of the school year, and with summer vacation fast approaching, I’d like to let you know you can build on your student’s reading growth by registering for the Santa Cruz Public Libraries Summer Reading Program.  Read to earn virtual badges, books, and raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes. You can sign up online for a Beanstack account any time. The Summer Reading Program sign ups begin June 1st. You may also pick up a paper log at any of the branches beginning June 1st.

On Wednesday, May 28th, from 9:30-11:20 AM, we’ll be holding our annual Field Day activities.  Parents/families are always welcome, please connect with your child’s teacher if you are able to volunteer.  

For fifth grade families, the Promotion Ceremony takes place on campus on Thursday, May 29th, from 8:45 AM to 10:15 AM (approx).  This is also the last day of school for all students and it is a minimum day…students leave at the same time as they do on Fridays.

As we move closer to the end of the year, I respectfully ask that families refrain from requesting a specific teacher for next year.  I do welcome input on your child's educational needs, and you can email that to me (cbroadhurst@suesd.org).  If your student will not be attending Main Street next year (and we think they are), could you please let the office know and also complete this form.

Are you looking for employment?  Do you think you’d enjoy working with students in our district?  The SUESD Child Nutrition Department is hiring.  Here is the Spanish version.

A reminder that if your child needs to be absent you can access the short term independent study option by here.  Students who access this receive attendance credit.

In celebration of Memorial Day, school will not be in session on Monday, May 26th.

¡Hola padres de Main Street!

Gracias a los Amigos de Main Street (FOMS) por organizar la recaudación de fondos "Arte y Alma" que se llevó a cabo el viernes pasado. Esta recaudación fue todo un éxito, y a todos los que asistieron, les agradecemos su apoyo con su presencia. Una vez más, ¡el trabajo que FOMS realiza en beneficio de nuestra escuela es increíble!

Esta semana, el martes de 16:00 a 20:00, habrá otra oportunidad para recaudar fondos en el Chipotle de Capitola. Menciona que cenarás en apoyo a Main Street y una parte de tu gasto se donará a FOMS.

¡Otro agradecimiento a FOMS y Mandi López por presentar Monsters Inc. la semana pasada en NBMS! ¡Qué evento tan increíble, que involucró a casi un tercio de nuestra escuela y a muchos adultos! ¡Una gran noche comunitaria llena de magia y recuerdos!

La próxima semana es la última semana de cinco días del año escolar, y con las vacaciones de verano acercándose rápidamente, me gustaría informarle que puede impulsar el crecimiento de lectura de su estudiante registrándolo en el Programa de lectura de verano de las bibliotecas públicas de Santa Cruz.Lee para ganar insignias virtuales, libros y boletos de rifa para tener la oportunidad de ganar premios. Puedes crear una cuenta Beanstack en línea en cualquier momento. Las inscripciones para el Programa de Lectura de Verano comienzan el 1 de junio. También puedes recoger un registro impreso en cualquiera de las sucursales a partir del 1 de junio.

El miércoles 28 de mayo, de 9:30 a 11:20 a. m., celebraremos nuestro Día de Campo anual. Los padres y familiares son siempre bienvenidos. Si pueden ser voluntarios, comuníquese con el maestro de su hijo/a.  

Para las familias de quinto grado, la ceremonia de promoción se llevará a cabo en el campus el jueves 29 de mayo, de 8:45 a. m. a 10:15 a. m. (aprox.).Este también es el último día de clases para todos los estudiantes y es un día mínimo… Los estudiantes salen a la misma hora que los viernes.

A medida que nos acercamos al final del año, les pido respetuosamente a las familias que se abstengan de solicitar un maestro específico para el próximo año. Agradezco cualquier comentario sobre las necesidades educativas de su hijo/a, y pueden enviarme la información por correo electrónico (croadhurst@suesd.org).Si su estudiante no asistirá a Main Street el próximo año (y creemos que sí lo hará), ¿podría informar a la oficina y también completar este formulario? forma.

¿Buscas trabajo? ¿Crees que disfrutarías trabajando con estudiantes de nuestro distrito?  El SUESD  Departamento de Nutrición Infantil es reclutamiento.  Aquí está el español versión.

Recordatorio de que si su hijo necesita ausentarse, puede acceder a la opción de estudio independiente a corto plazo aquí. Los estudiantes que acceden a esto reciben crédito de asistencia.

Para celebrar el Día de los Caídos, no habrá clases el lunes 26 de mayo.
