Main St Parent Newsletter 5/4/25

Hello Main Street Parents!

A great time was had by all who attended the ‘Blue Heron Bash - Let’s GLOW Crazy!’ event that was held on Friday at Soquel High School.  Many thanks to FOMS and the families who helped to organize this event which created wonderful memories for our students!

We have another opportunity this week to gather and celebrate school, families and students with the Main Street Elementary Open House, taking place on Thursday, May 8th, from 6:30-7:30 PM.  I hope to see all our Main Street families on campus.

Also on May 8th, in the morning, we’ll be participating in the semi annual ‘Walk, Roll to School.”  Students are encouraged to walk, skate, scoot or bike to school. Refreshments will be available and prizes will be raffled to participants.

On May 14 and 15, starting at 6:00 PM, Main Street students under the direction of Mandi Lopez, will be presenting Monsters Inc at the New Brighton Middle School Performing Arts Center.  Our staff and students have been putting in many hours of work over the past few months and these performances are going to be fantastic nights for our community.

Coming up on Friday, May 16th, 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Main Street: Art & Soul! Our adults-only Spring fundraiser is right around the corner - there will be a live and silent auction, art showcase, tacos, drinks and more! Early bird tickets are $25/each and include entry, dinner/dessert & 3 hours of off-site childcare(for children currently enrolled at our school). Beverages will be available for purchase separately. After April 26th, ticket prices will increase so buy them ASAP!

As we move closer to the end of the year, I respectfully ask that families refrain from requesting a specific teacher for next year.  I do welcome input on your child's educational needs, and you can email that to me (cbroadhurst@suesd.org).  If your student will not be attending Main Street next year (and we think they are), could you please let the office know and also complete this form.

Campus Kids Connection (CKC) after school enrollment for 2025/26 is open, and the link to register is  CKC Main Street 25/26  If you are interested in CKC providing morning care for your child, please fill out the before school care form on the same link.  

A reminder that if your child needs to be absent you can access the short term independent study option by here.  Students who access this receive attendance credit.

The Promotion Ceremony for 5th grade students takes place on campus on Thursday, May 29th, from 8:45 AM to 10:15 AM (approx).

In celebration of Memorial Day, school will not be in session on Monday, May 26th.

¡Hola padres de Main Street!

Todos los que asistieron se lo pasaron genial 'Blue Heron Bash - Let's GLOW Crazy!’ evento que se llevó a cabo el viernes en Soquel High School.  ¡Muchas gracias a FOMS y a las familias que ayudaron a organizar este evento que creó recuerdos maravillosos para nuestros estudiantes!

Tenemos otra oportunidad esta semana para reunirnos y celebrar a la escuela, las familias y los estudiantes con la jornada de puertas abiertas de Main Street Elementary, que tendrá lugar el jueves. 8 de mayo, de 18:30 a 19:30 horas.  espero verlos todos nuestras familias de Main Street en el campus.

También en 8 de mayo por la mañana participaremos en el evento semestral “Walk, Roll to School”.  Se anima a los estudiantes a caminar, patinar, patinar o andar en bicicleta a la escuela. Habrá refrigerios disponibles y se sortearán premios entre los participantes.

En 14 y 15 de mayo, a partir de las 6:00 p. m., los estudiantes de Main Street, bajo la dirección de Mandi López, presentarán Monsters Inc en el Centro de Artes Escénicas de New Brighton Middle School.  Nuestro personal y estudiantes han trabajado muchas horas durante los últimos meses y estas presentaciones serán noches fantásticas para nuestra comunidad.

Próximamente Viernes 16 de mayo de 17:00 a 20:00 horas. en la calle principal: Arte y alma! Nuestra recaudación de fondos de primavera solo para adultos está a la vuelta de la esquina: ¡habrá una subasta silenciosa y en vivo, exhibición de arte, tacos, bebidas y más! Las entradas anticipadas son $25/cada uno e incluye entrada, cena/postre y 3 horas de cuidado de niños fuera del sitio.(para niños actualmente matriculados en nuestra escuela). Las bebidas estarán disponibles para comprar por separado. ¡Después del 26 de abril, los precios de las entradas aumentarán para comprarlos lo antes posible!

A medida que nos acercamos al final del año, pido respetuosamente que las familias se abstengan de solicitar un maestro específico para el próximo año.  Agradezco cualquier comentario sobre las necesidades educativas de su hijo y puede enviármelo por correo electrónico (croadhurst@suesd.org).  Si su estudiante no asistirá a Main Street el próximo año (y creemos que sí lo hará), podría informarle a la oficina y también completar de esta forma.

La inscripción extraescolar de Campus Kids Connection (CKC) para 2025/26 está abierta y el enlace para registrarse es  CKC Calle Principal 25/26  Si está interesado en que CKC brinde cuidado matutino a su hijo, complete el formulario de cuidado antes de la escuela en el mismo enlace.  

Recuerde que si su hijo necesita estar ausente, puede acceder a la opción de estudio independiente a corto plazo llamando aquí.  Los estudiantes que acceden a esto reciben crédito de asistencia.

La Ceremonia de Promoción para estudiantes de 5to grado se llevará a cabo en el campus el jueves 29 de mayo de 8:45 a.m. a 10:15 a.m. (aprox).

Para celebrar el Día de los Caídos, la escuela no habrá clases el lunes 26 de mayo.
