Main St Parent Newsletter 9/7/25

Hello Main Street Families,

I enjoyed  meeting many of you at the Back to School Night (BTSN) last week. Thank you for coming to campus to learn more about your child’s teacher and their classroom.  As I mentioned at BTSN, the more contact you have with your child’s teacher, the better they will perform in the classroom.  Speaking of classroom performance, parent/teacher conferences will be held during the week of October 6-10th.  If you have not already signed up for a conference, please reach out to your child's teacher to get one on the calendar.

Do you have a career that you are excited about and willing to share with our students? Are you able to visit classrooms and speak with our students?  Our school counselor Elise Bankosh is planning a Career Cafe during the week of October 21-25th.  One to two parents per class are needed, so if you are interested, please email Elise Bankosh, Main Street Counselor at ebankosh@suesd.org or fill out this google form.  https://forms.gle/mEqHk6fsD41AMWdp6 

As we look ahead on the calendar, some upcoming districtwide observances in SUESD include Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15), Constitution and Citizenship Day September 17, LGBTQ+ History Month (October), and College & Career Week (October 20-25). On 9/27/25, the Fall 2025 Rainbow Conference will be held at Watsonville High School.  This is a day of celebration, community, and learning for LGBTQIA2S+ students, their allies, and the adults who support them

Thank you for sending your students to us on a daily basis, the more your child is in school, the more they will learn!  If your child needs to be absent you can access the short term independent study option here.  Students who complete the short term independent study receive attendance credit.

With regards to student safety, I am respectfully asking families to refrain from bringing any animal to school (I’m not referring to service animals here) as a show and tell item.

In closing, thank you for driving safely in our parking lot;  your safety and student safety is of the utmost importance.  Also, please do not leave your car unattended in the pick up and drop off lanes.  If you need to exit your vehicle, please park in the parking lot.

Disfruté mucho conociendo a muchos de ustedes en la Noche de Regreso a Clases (BTSN) la semana pasada. Gracias por venir al campus para conocer mejor al maestro de su hijo/a y su aula. Como mencioné en BTSN, cuanto más contacto tengan con el maestro/a de su hijo/a, mejor será su desempeño en clase. Hablando de rendimiento en clase, las reuniones de padres y maestros se llevarán a cabo durante la semana del 6 al 10 de octubre. Si aún no se han inscrito para una reunión, por favor, comuníquese con el maestro/a de su hijo/a para programarla.

Al mirar el calendario, algunas de las próximas celebraciones del distrito en SUESD incluye el Mes de la Herencia Hispana (del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre), el Día de la Constitución y la Ciudadanía el 17 de septiembre, el Mes de la Historia LGBTQ+ (octubre) y la Semana de la Universidad y la Carrera (del 20 al 25 de octubre).El 27/9/25 se celebrará la Conferencia Arcoíris de Otoño 2025 en la Preparatoria Watsonville. Este es un día de celebración, comunidad y aprendizaje para el alumnado LGBTQIA2S+, sus aliados y los adultos que los apoyan.

Gracias por enviarnos a sus alumnos a diario. Cuanto más tiempo asista su hijo a la escuela, más aprenderá. Si su hijo necesita ausentarse, puede acceder a la opción de estudio independiente a corto plazo aquí. Los estudiantes que completan el estudio independiente a corto plazo reciben crédito de asistencia..

Con respecto a la seguridad de los estudiantes, pido respetuosamente a las familias que se abstengan de traer cualquier animal a la escuela (no me refiero a animales de servicio aquí) como un artículo para mostrar y contar.

Para terminar, gracias por conducir con cuidado en nuestro estacionamiento; su seguridad y la de los estudiantes son de suma importancia. Además, por favor, no deje su auto sin supervisión en los carriles de entrada y salida. Si necesita salir de su vehículo, por favor, estacionarlo en el estacionamiento.
